Cryptforge Relics: Throne of the Undying

Lore Description The Throne of the Undying is not just a seat of power, it is a prison, a monument to rulers who refused to fade into history. Crafted from fused bone, blackened iron, and cursed gold, it is said to be the resting place of a monarch who sought eternal dominion over both the living and the dead. The skeletal remains of past rulers are woven into its structure, their hollow eyes still gleaming with a faint, ghostly light, as if watching those who dare approach. Legends say that anyone who sits upon the Throne of the Undying is granted immortality, but at a terrible cost. The throne does not let its rulers leave; it binds them to its will, draining their essence until they are nothing more than another whispering soul in its cursed embrace. Over the ages, many have tried to claim its power, but none have truly ruled, it is the throne itself that commands. Why It Fits Seamlessly in the Games The Throne of the Undying fits effortlessly into The Legend of Zelda, Elden Ri...

Cryptforge Relics: Bonegrinder

Image
Item Lore Description Bonegrinder –  A cursed chainsaw sword forged from the fused vertebrae of a fallen warlord. Its jagged bone teeth grind endlessly, tearing through armor and flesh while whispering the hunger of the damned. The Bonegrinder is more than a weapon, it is a hunger given form. Its jagged bone teeth gnash and churn endlessly, grinding through steel, flesh, and even the souls of those unfortunate enough to stand in its path. The weapon does not simply cut; it shreds, devours, and consumes, leaving behind cursed wounds that refuse to heal. Legends say Bonegrinder was once wielded by a warlord who sought eternal dominance, binding his soul to his own spine to create an instrument of endless destruction. But the magic he used was unstable, and now, the weapon thirsts for battle, eternally seeking new prey. Those who wield it can feel the deep, rhythmic growl of the blade in their bones, as if the sword itself is alive, eager to feast. The longer one wields Bonegr...

The Cryptforge Relics

The story behind these weapons Deep beneath the ruins of long-forgotten battlegrounds, where the echoes of war still linger in the cold stone halls, lies the Cryptforge, an ancient, eldritch forge that does not burn with fire, but with the restless souls of the dead. It is said that this place was never built by human hands, but rather formed from the twisted remnants of a long-dead civilization, a cursed sanctum where warriors and sorcerers once sought to defy death itself. The Cryptforge does not create weapons, it reshapes the bones of the fallen, binding them with cursed runes and the remnants of eldritch power. These weapons, known as the Cryptforge Relics, are not merely tools of war, but entities unto themselves, whispering with the voices of those who perished in battle, yearning to be wielded once more. The Nature of the Relics Each Cryptforge Relic is crafted from the remains of legendary fallen warriors, their essence forever bound to the weapon: Bonegrinder – A cursed chain...

The Power of Thematic Weapon Design

Image
The Cryptforge Relics Why I choose to make Bone-Themed Weapons  Weapons are more than just tools in video games, they are extensions of the world, the lore, and the enemies that inhabit them. A well-designed weapon or skin line can elevate the experience, making players feel like they are truly part of the universe they’re exploring.  That’s why I chose to design my latest set of 3D models around a bone-themed arsenal, because it seamlessly integrates into three vastly different yet thematically connected games: Elden Ring, The Legend of Zelda, and Sea of Thieves. But why bones? Simple. All three games have skeleton-like enemies deeply ingrained in their identity. By designing weapons made of bones, I ensure they naturally belong in these worlds without feeling out of place or disrupting immersion. Why Skeletons Are the Best Enemies in Gaming There’s something timelessly cool about skeletons in video games. Whether they’re clattering towards you in the depths of a dungeon, ris...
