Texturing the Mech

Image
I mainly use substance 3D Painter to texture my models. For the colour theme, i got inspired by the Gundam: Astray Red The basic texture of the mech is completed, I must add some details to make the model stand out more. I started working on stickers for the mech. By using Photoshop I made first a "sticker" with no background in png, then I made a white and black version, with the white part being the edges of the first image and the black covering the entire background. Then I import the textures correctly. I made sure to name all the materials correctly. Then I apply the base and alpha in the right slot.

Working on Mech

I made a basic mecha , I'm happy with the look of it, but I could do more components.  I created a basic low poly Mech, starting from some references that I found online. I showed the model to the 10th Percent group and received interesting feedback. I need to keep in mind that the model must be animated, so I had to adapt it for a human skeleton mesh. I created a shoulder rocket launcher for the mech. I also added some aerial mobility with the inclusion of a jet pack. i got inspired by this reference and made my own jetpack. This is my version. This is the completed base model of the Mech. The point of origin of each model is really important. the origin of each part must be adjusted correspondently. the cannon pivot point is at the bottom of the cannon but this messes up the hand cannon animation. The center of the wheel must be the center point of the cannon so that it won't affect the model later on. This process must be done on each individual part. This process is really

10th Percent Studios The last few months I had the opportunity to be in contact and work with graduated students from my course. We worked together to accomplish a few games using the game jam guidelines and deadline. It all started from a few phone calls and then we created a small discord server and worked on couple of games. New Project These are the steps we took as a group: Brainstorm (writing down - drawings) Idea (vision of the game, theme, look, feel) Research  Reference (source materials,) Task (what each one of us have to do) Management (files, projects, models) Completed Project (finished game) At first we discuss the idea and look around for inspiration and discuss as a team. while working on a specific game jam, we try to incorporate new visions and settings for the fictional world that we have in mind. As for me, I create vision boards on Pinterest for the style and details of the various 3D assets that may be necessary for the game.  Mech Jam The MechJam is an interesti
